  Heparin has potent anticoagulant andantithrombotic properties, i.e. inhibiting Xa and IIa. Heparin binds to theenzyme inhibitor antithrombin III (ATIII) causing a conformational change thatresult in its activation through an increase in the flexibility of its reactivesite loop. The activated AT then inactivates thrombin and other proteasesinvolved in blood clotting, most notably factor Xa. So it can be used in bothof inside and outside body. 
 Heparin Sodium is the sodium salt of sulfated glycosaminoglycans and ispresent as a mixture of heterogeneous molecules varying in molecular weightsthat retain a combination of activities against different factors of the bloodclotting spectrum. Heparin Sodium is composed of polymers of alternatingderivatives ofα-D-glucosamido (N-sulfated, O-sulfated, or N-acetylated) andO-sulfated uronic acid (α-L-iduronic acid or β-D-glucuronic acid). Allsourcing of heparin material is specified and is in compliance with allapplicable regulatory requirements.
