heparin sodium (CAS NO.9041-08-1)

Heparin has potent anticoagulantandantithrombotic properties, i.e. inhibiting Xa and IIa. Heparin binds totheenzyme inhibitor antithrombin III (ATIII) causing a conformational changethatresult in its activation through an increase in the flexibility of itsreactivesite loop. The activated AT then inactivates thrombin and otherproteasesinvolved in blood clotting, most notably factor Xa. So it can be usedin bothof inside and outside body. 
Efficacy: These components have theproperty of prolonging the clotting time of blood. This occurs mainly throughthe formation of a complex of each component with the plasma proteinsantithrombin and heparin cofactor II to potentiate the inactivation of thrombin(factor IIa).
